Reinforcement Fiberglass is primarily used for mechanical reinforcement of plastic materials.
It is melted in a variety of furnaces, mostly gas or oxygas flame furnaces and sometimes in furnaces combining gas and electric boosting.
The melter furnace and the associated forehearth are the most important equipment parts on which the fiberglass melter can intervene both to reduce operating costs and to increase the quality of the glass delivered to the bushing.

Saint-Gobain SEFPRO provides a full range of specially designed refractory solutions for this high demanding application, including :

- C1215Z, a fine-grained chromium oxide materials offering optimal corrosion and thermal shock resistance.
- ZS 1300, a premium Zircon material in melter bottom with electric boosting.
- A BP Mullite based high performance refractory superstructure.
- ZS 78, a premium zirconium silicate or C1215Z, a unique high chromium oxide material for bushing blocks application.
