Abstract: A path to sustainability: Solutions around the complete furnace life cycle
Achieving a low-carbon-emitting glass industry will require innovation to cope with the challenging mid- and long-term new melting furnaces technologies and significant improvement of actual solutions for existing furnace design.
In this presentation, SEFPRO will first provide an overview of several new solutions to support the glass industries all along the complete furnace life cycle. From project inception with the development of numerical simulation tools until the furnace demolition with the implementation of a circular economy adapted to the valorisation of used refractories.
Next, we will focus on a concrete example of reducing emissions in current regenerative furnace designs with the use of high-performing packing and online plugging monitoring for efficient and cost-effective maintenance.
At last, an overall description will be given about a set of cost effective hot and cold repair solutions enabling furnace extension.
SEFPRO proposes a holistic view of adapted solutions throughout the complete furnace’s life supporting the development of greener glass industry.
