Abstract: Sustainable refractory solution for long life throat glass furnace supported by corrosion numerical simulation
Throat Glass furnace sustainability is for specialty glass a concern for global lifetime and glass quality. Corrosion process, at throat location, is a complex process mixing different phenomenon such as glass flow erosion, upward-driling process, glass refractory interface stability with horizontal interface.
Moreover, glass furnace electrification dedicated to limit glass melting CO2 footprint will induce higher glass temperature at throat location, enhancing this corrosion process, highly driven by temperature. Based on our understanding through laboratory test and industrial experiences, SEFPRO developed an original approach, thank to FEM model, to assess corrosion profile with numerical simulation. Different parameter impact will be discussed in the presentation.
On top of that SEFPRO developed innovative fused cast refractory materials able to face such harsh condition. These products Characteristics will be disclosed, and first industrial results presented.
